Home Study Agnst

Can I just say UGH?!! I am a bit ticked about the medical statement my doctor has to sign for the home study. Why? Well when I called today, I was told he would not sign it because he has not seen Tim, Chandler, or me in over a year. Tim and I have an appointment on May 12 and now Chandler has one in June. Good grief.

They will not start the home study until I return all the forms they sent to me completed (medical statement, all references returned, fingerprint results, etc.....).

Fingerprints for Home Study

Tim and I went to Owens last night for our fingerprints. Mine took forever, something about my hands being dry. The home study agency will get them in 2-4 weeks. In the mean time, I need to call and get a fire inspection set up. Not sure how much that will cost yet.

I suggested to Tim that he get his passport on Wednesday since he took the day off. Doesn't that make sense? I thought so.

I have about 20 more diagnostic tests to grade and I will be done. Then I will focus on the home study and dossier paperwork like a mad woman.

Dossier and Home Study

This week we received the information on how to complete the dossier for our adoption. Goodness, it is a LOT. Kind of made my head spin. Yesterday we got more info from the home study agency. Tim and I have to have our fingerprints done before they will even come out to the house. The most convenient one was Owens. They have Saturday and Sunday hours as well as late hours during the week.

I need to order new birth certificates and marriage license, because they cannot be more than 6 months old.

The agency said that the dossier is usually completed in 5 months. The home study lady said she could be done in as little as one month or 4, it depends on how fast we do things on our end.

That's pretty much it for now.

Easter Egg Fun

I love Easter, it is one of my favorite holidays. I think it is because after a long, cold winter we have glorious spring! Of course I know the true meaning of Easter and I appreciate that as well.

I know there is snow on the ground here now, but my spring flowers are starting to peek up through the ground. WOOHOO!

Geckos!

We got a pair of geckos this weekend. They were free, just had to buy a stand for them. They are all Tim's. The boys like them, but yet are a bit afraid. Christian does not care for them at all--a good thing, maybe he will leave the tank alone.

Home study application --DONE

I am done filling out the home study application and all that it encompasses. YEAH. Now just need to write that check. :)

Home Study

Guess I better get on the stick with the home study application. Tim is asking me about it. Perhaps tonight that will be my project. We are all slowly coming back to normal from our sickness.

Financing

We have been able to secure financing for the adoption costs. This should pay for most of it.

Chandler and I went shopping last night for some nice clothes to wear for the Lion King. We were able to find some stuff at Kohls. I told him he will wear it to the play, Easter, and for Katie's graduation. He was like, huh?? We then went to Target and got him some shoes. On the way out in the parking lot he decided to barf. I yelled an obsenitiy to a teenager that said something rude. It made me feel better.

Carter woke up this morning feeling gross. So he is home from preschool watching PBS kids or Dora.

I have Bunco tonight with the ladies in the neighborhood. Should prove to be interesting this month.

Home Study Application

The home study application came in yesterday. We are using Toledo Catholic Charities. They come highly recommended. I checked refrences of people that had used them. From what I have heard their fees are quite reasonable too. So now I need to make copies of paperwork, fill out about 4 pages of questions, and mail them half the fee. Looks like we will also have to take a class called Parents in Process. Of course that costs $$ too. It is a one day deal and they feed us lunch. Guess I will work on that a bit later. I still have papers to grade that I have put off for too long. I will definately do the grading on Sunday.

Chandler gets to go see the Lion King this Friday. It was part of his bday present from g'ma Jo. He is excited. I think he will have a good time.

We are all ill. I cannot wait to lay down and nap with the boys. I cancelled all calls today, I can barely talk.

It's Finally March!

I am so glad that it is March. Why you ask? Because spring is near. We are so ready to be outside.

Getting Started

I thought I would start this blog after being inspired by so many that I read. We are the Petersen's. As you see I have a house full of boys. I am working on adding a bit more estrogen to the mix. On 2.22.08 our adoption application was approved through CCAI. We have a long ways to go still, but it is progress. I have thought about and researched adoption for two years. Now this year we are starting the process. I hope to post a bit everyweek.
